To get the most out of your oil cleansing experience, you’ll want to follow these directions pretty precisely. One of the most important things to remember:

Remove all of the cleansing oil when you’re done – or else you’ll add more oil on top of the dirty old oil you were trying to remove.

And remember: This removes makeup as well !

How To Cleanse Your Face With Oil

  • Assemble what you need: Your cleansing oil, a washcloth and a sink that provides hot water. Or you a bowl of water (as warm as your face can stand without burning or discomfort) and facial cotton pads.
  • Splash some warm water onto your face
  • In the palm of your hand drop 7-10 drops of your cleansing oil.
  • Massage this oil all over your face, in circles, moving upward for 2 -3 minutes. Make sure to cover all aspects of your face and under your chin and neck.
  • Leave this oil for 30 seconds to 1 minute. By now, if you’re using hot tap water, you should have hot water coming out of your faucet.
  • Wet the washcloth with the very warm water and apply the washcloth to your whole face, letting the warm water soften the oils.
  • If you could, let some steam over your face as well as this helps to open the pores.
  • Wipe your face clean with the washcloth (remember to get off all the oil) by wiping and rinsing the washcloth several times.
  • If you’re using the cotton pads, dip it into the bowl of warm water and wipe face till all the oil is removed. Ensure the cotton pad is warm so that the oils are softened and is removed properly as you wipe your face clean.
  • Once done, splash your face once more with lukewarm water and make sure your skin feels neither oily nor too slippery. It should feel soft and supple and with a very moisturized texture, but not slick.
  • Splash your face with cold water for a final rinse.
  • Moisturize , if you feel it necessary. Otherwise that’s fine too.
